Congratulations to Crater Lake Academy scholars Wyatt and Jake for completing the Ready2Respond and iBuild construction programs this summer! Through these programs, Wyatt and Jake spent their break in the field gaining real-world construction experience. In addition to technical skills, they focused heavily on core employability skill development that will serve them well in any career path they choose. Thank you to our partners at Engage Trade School for providing these impactful learning opportunities, and congratulations to Wyatt and Jake on their achievements!

Staff Spotlight - Ms. Trautman
Miss Trautman’s journey into teaching has always been rooted in a passion for working with young people. After beginning college at RCC with plans for a business degree, she shifted to psychology at SOU, where a volunteer experience with Community Works opened her eyes to the impact she could have supporting teens. Following graduation, she worked as a family advocate and quickly realized she wanted to be more directly involved in students’ lives. In 2020, she returned to school to earn her Master’s degree and began substitute teaching, where she discovered a love for the classroom. By 2022, she stepped into teaching Spanish and has continued to share her enthusiasm for both language and math ever since.

With a clear vision for his future and the discipline to achieve it, Gary Leonardo is turning his goals into reality through both academics and athletics. Gary has signed with Southern Oregon University to play men’s golf while pursuing a degree in biology, keeping him on track toward his ultimate goal of becoming a dentist. His decision to attend SOU was influenced by a finance course he took in high school, where he learned strategies for saving money to invest in his future educational endeavors. After completing his undergraduate studies, he plans to apply to dental school and continue his education with focus and determination.

Mrs. Karrick, our 4th grade teacher, brings enthusiasm and creativity to her classroom each day. She designs engaging lessons and prioritizes hands-on learning experiences, especially when bringing history to life through her Oregon Trail unit. Mrs. Karrick’s passion for learning is matched by her strong background in teamwork and dedication, shaped in part by her experience playing collegiate softball. We are grateful for the energy, commitment, and care she brings to our CLA scholars!
