Building the Future: CLA Launches Advanced Learning Program, including Trade

Crater Lake Academy is expanding the path for student success with the Advanced Learning Program. The Advanced Learning Program is a collaboration with CLA’s high school program, where all students are supported in earning a high school diploma. The Advanced Learning Program provides additional education, supporting a student to achieve career readiness in one of three areas: CLA College, CLA Trades, and CLA Workforce.

As part of CLA Trades, the school is entering into a partnership with Engage Trade School, a Southern Oregon nonprofit working to successfully prepare students for a career in construction, which could result in placement in either an apprenticeship program or hiring with a construction industry firm.

"By partnering with Engage Trade School, Crater Lake Academy is providing our students with a massive head start,” stated CLA Executive Director Stephanie Pogue. She continued, “Our students will not just be reading about the careers they hope to have, they will be actually building the community they live in while earning the credentials to sustain a lifelong career."

CLA Advanced Learning is centered on the idea that every student has a “+”

With CLA Trades and Engage Trade School, a student will learn how to be ready to step onto a professional construction trades job site, with the program providing tailored levels of engagement:

• Entry-Level CTE Courses: Perfect for "Exploratory Scholars" who want to test the waters. These courses focus on program development, safety, and the fundamentals of the trade.

• On-the-Job Training: For our Advanced Scholars, the classroom moves to the field. Students can earn real-world experience working on actual construction projects.

• Professional Outcomes: The program is built on a model which leads to:

– Industry Certifications

– Registered Apprenticeships

– Career Placement
